According to our Grooming Expert, Wearing Pomade ranks right alongside Building a Fire and Using a Compass when it comes to Things All Men Should Know.

Our Old School Pomade is based on the classic pomade texture (a perfect balance of greasy, waxy and gummy) but achieved here without the disturbing addition of animal fats and petroleum products.

Instead, unrefined beeswax and shea butter together with the essence of the drought-proof Moroccan argon tree (among others) combine to form a light, breathable styling grease that gives your hair a beautifully moldable, moveable hold.

As Sloan notes in a blog post about using pomade, beyond its obvious styling, shaping and sculpting uses, for people with dry hair, the pomade can function as a conditioner of sorts, locking in moisture by coating the hair with a nourishing, organic seal of protection.

Great scent, smooth hair and moisturizing effect.

All natural oils; no PEG, no petrolatum, no nonsense. Started using these about four years ago, and I've been in love ever since.
My favorites are Red Hook and Fort Greene (smell and texture), and this review is for both of them.

I've never been one to use styling products in my hair unless I was going out, on account of not wanting to smear petrol gel and other unnecessary grime on my body. When I discovered Brooklyn Grooming's pomade, I started using product each day. I now put in a thumbnail's worth of it after each shower, just as I would with moisturizer on my face and hands. Having had on-and-off dry scalp, with the occasional white stuff falling off (not dandruff, mind you, which is a skin condition, unlike dry scalp+white which is just normal dry skin), the oils in the pomade seemes to act as a moisturizer for my scalp, in addition to leaving my hair silky smooth and managable. Suffice to say, I'm was in love :)

My experience, as bullet points:
- It smells great.
- It won't leave your hair looking greasy.
- Your hair wont't look like you've got glue in it.
- Your hair will be smooth to the touch.
- It will help moisturizing your scalp.

4 Years and counting

I have been using Red Hook Pomade for several years now, and I still stand by it. My hair is difficult to manage and knots easily, but the pomade turns my difficult peas to manageable curls. I especially appreciate that applied correctly, you do not need a lot, and it does not leave my hair looking greasy or shining in the sun. It simply makes it a little softer and better to comb.

Great stuff! Dual Functionality too! Read on :)

I was in NYC recently on a personal trip; I saw an old friend at a high end barber shop for a new 'do. Now, I'm a woman, but due to my friend's extremely beautiful, tailored cuts on men, I told him I trusted him with my hurrrr. And I wanted a shorter cut.

With a brand new sexy 'do, I wanted to try out the product that made BG famous in Esquire: Red Hook Pomade. I tried it in store at Bigelow Pharmacy and was sold on the scent alone. Sweet, reminiscent of cloves, cinnamon and there's the ever present scent of bay leaf. Absolutely gorgeous smell! And while I'm still experimenting with fewer washes (Sloan, what have you DONE TO ME?!?!) and using the right amount, I really love this pomade. And three cheers for dual functionality! If you have stretched earlobes like I do, this stuff makes an AMAZING massage butter for your lobes. And a great cologne to boot :)

Thank you BG!
